Congratulations to Jenny Emmerson – the fourth Careers Champion
After an amazing final which saw over 12,000 votes cast, Jenny Emmerson Careers Adviser at Grimsby Institute (39%) was confirmed as the winner of the fourth Careers Champion contest. She narrowly beat Steve Hargreaves (Haywood Academy) with 34%.
Amazingly, the four other finalists Caroline Green (Newlands Girls’ School), Ranjit Garcha (Titan Partnership), Clare Johnson (University of Exeter) and Rebecca Butler (Brighton Youth Employability Service) also polled an impressive 3,300 votes between them. This was almost double the number of votes cast in previous final contests alone.
Jenny has been Careers Guidance Advisor at Grimbsy Institute since 2012 and uses her skills to support a challenging range of learners from 14 years to mature adults (entry level to post-graduate level students). Using innovative resources and networks, Jenny delivers an excellent standard of CEIAG to service users and ensures they receive the highest level of careers support. Colleague Susan Wells said: “Jenny goes above and beyond, ensuring regular internal and external peer observations are undertaken to inform the quality of service delivered by internal colleagues and supporting IAG delivered by other providers to their learners. Always impartial, Jenny is very proactive in developing her own knowledge of the labour market.”
